In the event, two people were killed on Saturday as savagery disturbed a State Assembly bye-political decision in Ekiti State.
An assertion endorsed by INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, said the "citizens, political decision authorities and security faculty" were assaulted inciting the commission to suspend casting a ballot.
The political decision was held to fill the opportunity for the Ekiti East 1 State Constituency.
"The Commission made satisfactory courses of action for the political race. Work force and materials showed up on schedule taking all things together the 39 Polling Units spread across 5 Wards of the Constituency for the 23,670 enlisted citizens to practice their establishment in a free and reasonable cycle," the INEC proclamation said.
"In any case, no sooner had casting a ballot started than unidentified shooters released anarchy at some Polling Units, along these lines disturbing the interaction.
"Tragically, some blameless electors were shot dead, while a cop, some INEC standard and impromptu staff who supported, discharge wounds during the skirmish are accepting clinical consideration.
"The present circumstance is inadmissible. In its declared obligation to electing honesty, the Commission has suspended the political race uncertainly. To proceed with the interaction will add up to remunerating awful behavour. The security offices know about this awful circumstance and have initiated examination.
"The Commission sympathizes with the blameless casualties of this devious demonstration and attack against our majority rule government."
Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi denounced the brutality on Saturday.
"This brutality is generally ridiculous, and profoundly upsetting," Fayemi said, as per an assertion endorsed by his representative, Yinka Oyebode.
"I have trained the police specialists to fish out the culprits and guarantee they bite the bullet.
"Our sympathies to the families that lost friends and family and the individuals who were harmed.
"Government would not yield in endeavors to consistently guarantee wellbeing of lives and properties.
"We will guarantee all purveyors of brutality are brought to book."
In the interim, the Ekiti State Police Command said the viciousness had been perpertrated by presumed hooligans in Unit 7 ward 7 in Omuo-Ekiti "while qualified citizens" were playing out their sacred obligation.
"The Command, while feeling for the groups of the individuals who lost their lives, wishes every one of the casualties at present accepting treatment in the clinic a fast recuperation, including a lady Police and an individual from Nigeria Youths Service Corp(NYSC)," a police proclamation, endorsed by representative Sunday Abutu, said.
