Dele Alli is confident he can force through a loan deal to Paris Saint-Germain this January, as he looks to put his current Tottenham nightmare behind him.
The out-of-favour midfielder has made only four league appearances for Spurs this season, and coach Jose Mourinho has left him out of the squad on 11 occasions
the start of the 2020/21 campaign.Alli's future seems destined to lie away from north London and summer rumours linking him with a switch to PSG have resurfaced in the January transfer window. The Sun reports the 24-year-old is now confident he can push through a loan move to the French giants this winter, eyeing a reunion with former coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The proposed loan move to PSG could run until the end of the season, or the Premier League club could even sanction an 18-month loan deal, given his contract expires in the summer of 2024.
Spurs will be hoping that their fallen star regains his form at PSG, should he temporarily leave the club, as it would boost his damaged market value in the event that they decide to cash in on the midfielder in the future.
He stands a good chance of breathing life into his faltering career if he reunites with new PSG coach Pochettino, with whom he played some scintillating football.
The midfielder hit his peak during the Argentine's spell in charge of Spurs and played a key role in their dramatic run to the Champions League final in 2019, assisting the winning goal in the semi-final victory over Ajax.
His form has dropped significantly over the past 18 months, however, and he now finds himself well outside of Mourinho's plans and on the periphery of the Tottenham team. With the rearranged Euro 2020 fast approaching in the summer, Alli will be desperate to show Gareth Southgate he still has what it takes to make his England squad.
